Pan - African Dream
SUSO Africa & APAC Youth
Following the APAC in July 2022, SUSO took a bold step by leading APAC Youth, involving 65 young African conservationists in a three-day pre-congress workshop. The goal was to strategically position Africa’s youth as key voices in conservation.
Community Development
Dignity Projects & Improved Livelihoods Powered by Conservation
SUSO, prioritizes the dignity of communities living near protected areas as crucial for biodiversity protection. This approach ensures that projects preserve natural habitats while respecting local perspectives and needs.
Communities have the power and potential to be the change makers we need in conservation, and with some support, empowerment, amplification and positioning the grassroots conservation could be the greatest asset for safeguarding nature's future and combating climate change.

Adopt A Park
This project emphasises dignifying these communities, fostering a deep connection to their heritage, and cultivating their relationships with protected areas and park management authorities. By increasing human resources, reducing tension between rangers and local youth, and mobilising resources for youth action, the initiative aims to transform these communities into active custodians and advocates for conservation.

The Improved Livelihoods, Powered by Conservation campaign is a game changer in the narrative of benefit sharing and dignity and respect for communities, with less talk and more deliberate action to improve livelihoods of communities through deliberate interventions that tackle basic needs as well as social economic empowerment with clear communication to the communities and the world that it is all powered by conservation, hence creating a movement of communities across Kenya and Africa that are dignified to be the greatest guardians of nature as their ancestors were, and as local communities experience the tangible benefits of conservation-driven improvements #ImprovedLivelihoods #PoweredByConservation these communities become allies in the protection of biodiversity which directly aligns with combating climate change, ensuring a sustainable and resilient future for all.
