Adopt A Park
The Adopt A Park initiative, powered by World Leaders of Today | Stand Up Shout Out (WLT | SUSO), recognises the critical role of youth and communities living near protected areas in safeguarding wildlife and nature. This project emphasises dignifying these communities, fostering a deep connection to their heritage, and cultivating their relationships with protected areas and park management authorities. By increasing human resources, reducing tension between rangers and local youth, and mobilising resources for youth action, the initiative aims to transform these communities into active custodians and advocates for conservation.
Moreover, Adopt A Park addresses climate change by preserving biodiversity, maintaining essential carbon sinks, and ensuring ecosystem resilience and adaptation. This holistic approach, which intertwines community dignity with wildlife protection, not only enhances the resilience of protected areas but also empowers communities, creating a formidable force for sustainability and significantly contributing to global efforts in combating climate change.
